Homework
Andrew came home with his first homework assignment. He had to copy the numbers 1-100 in a grid to practice writing the different numbers.
He didn't need much encouragement to finish up his assignment. He made a few mistakes, which he quickly corrected, and he was very proud to turn it in to his teachers.
Hopefully he'll be as excited to finish up his homework when he's in high school as he was to do it tonight!

Laundro-Center
Big changes in our laundry room... er... closet!
To refresh your memory (and give us something to remember what the laundry closet used to look like), we inherited a stacked washer and dryer set with the house.
It wasn't the easiest way to do laundry. The door to the washer swung out, so Mommy would always have to lean over the door to put clothes into the wash. Daddy wasn't crazy about the stackables. Andrew didn't mind. It was just his size and right at his level.
And then, the washer broke. After getting official confirmation from an appliance repair guy that it would cost $700+ to fix a broken drum in the washer, we knew it was time to replace it. And Daddy got very excited about the idea of getting rid of the stacked washer and dryer.
Commence weekend house project.
After bringing in a plumber to cap off the old gas line (which should make Skipper very happy!), we needed to repair a big hole in the wall and we decided to paint over the wallpaper to officially get rid of the ugly pink/green flowers.
Gas line is fixed and now officially up to code - hooray!
Andrew wanted to help paint the walls, so we put him in an old t-shirt and let him paint away.
In order to maximize the small closet space, we installed a shelf and hanging bar on the left side so we can hang clothes to dry and store all of our cleaning supplies up and out of sight. The closet is ready for the washer and dryer!
Voila! Here's our new Maytag washer and dryer! We got a great deal on models that were on clearance, and having the washer and dryer up higher and facing forward makes such a difference.
Daddy put up another shelf above the washer and dryer for all of the detergent, dryer sheets and cleaning supplies we use more regularly. While we didn't expect to have to overhaul the laundry closet, we are pretty pleased with the results!

Dolphin!
One of the highlights of our stop at Grand Cayman was getting the opportunity to swim with a dolphin. Our dolphin's name was Luna, and she was a new arrival at the center. She was very sweet and gentle, especially with Andrew.
It was amazing to get the chance to interact with Luna.
And get a sweet kiss from a dolphin!
Andrew's favorite part was touching Luna on a special spot on her head that made her make farting noises through her blowhole. He thought that was absolutely hilarious!
