Geese vs. Goose

Setting: Mommy is driving Andrew to school.  We are not far from our house when we pass a set of office buildings and there is one lone Canadian goose nesting in the grass.

Andrew: Geese, Mommy!

Mommy: I saw the goose too, buddy.  Good eyes.

A: No, it was geese, Mommy.

M: I only saw one goose, Andrew.

A: Geese, Mommy.

M: Geese means there are more than one, like two or three or lots and lots.  A goose means you just saw one, and I think there was only one goose in the grass.

A: No, Mommy.  It was geese.  You are wrong.

M: You're probably right, buddy.  You can spot a goose anywhere.  *bites tongue so as not to laugh*

A: Geese, Mommy.  Geese.
