Helpless

We take so many things for granted.

A warm home. Food in our bellies. Clean water to drink. A comfortable bed to sleep.

These Haitian children have nothing.

They've lost their ramshackle homes. They may have lost their parents. They are hurt and scared. They truly are helpless.

We can help. We can offer a little bit of hope during this time of hopelessness in Haiti. Give money. Give time. Give something. If we all give a little, it will add up to a lot. Certainly more than what they have right now.

Our family has given to Doctors Without Borders. UNICEF is accepting donations to help the children in Haiti. You can also give to the American Red Cross by texting "HAITI" to 90999 on your cellphone, and a $10 donation will appear on your next cell phone bill.

As he grows, I want to make sure Andrew understands how fortunate he is. I know he's too young now to understand the magnitude of the earthquake and the impact it has on the country of Haiti, but someday he'll learn about it. And I want to be able to tell him that we did something to help. We did. Will you?
