Adventures in Camping

Daddy was up in Mt. Snow, Vermont for a week-long conference, and we decided it would be fun to go camping for a night after he was finished. We pulled out all of our camping gear - it hadn't been used since we went camping in New Mexico when Andrew was about seven months old - and Andrew was super excited at the idea of sleeping in a tent and eating s'mores from a real campfire.

After some exploring, we found Grout Pond in southern Vermont. It was quiet and lovely.

There were only a few minor problems. We had to pack in our gear to our campsite. It wasn't a big deal, but it made for many round trips walks (mostly for Daddy) carrying our supplies. The other problem was it was going to rain. Lots and lots of rain.

It poured for a good two hours, leaving us trapped in our little tent wondering if we were going to get washed away. When it finally let up, we worked for nearly an hour to get a good campfire going so Andrew could have his s'mores. We got one lit, and we devoured our fair share of the delicious sweet goodies.

After a cool night of sleep, Andrew was very happy to see the sun and eat a dry breakfast.

Our tent kept us dry (thank goodness!).

We think Andrew would like to go camping again.

Although he did say he doesn't want to camp in the rain again.
