Endeavour (scrub)

One of the main reasons we were taking a trip to Orlando was to see the space shuttle Endeavour launch from NASA Kennedy Space Center. However, in order to make sure we were at Cape Canaveral on time, we had to wake up early in the morning to catch our tour bus.

Andrew was a trooper and was all smiles at 6:30 a.m. when we arrived at NASA.

After a quick breakfast, we visited a few of the exhibits at the visitor center. Andrew tried landing a lunar orbiter on the surface of the moon, and was successful!

Andrew located a fun playground for "Junior Astronauts" and loved climbing and sliding down the space shuttle jungle gym.

It wasn't long before we had to line up to get back on the buses to head out to the NASA causeway for the launch. While waiting, Mommy took Andrew to a special Legos exhibit to pass the time. Andrew was able to meet an astronaut!

There were piles and piles of Legos to put together and build with. Andrew was very happy building his own soccer field.

And while we played, it became very obvious that waking up at 5:30 a.m. was taking its toll.

After finishing up with the Legos, we jumped back onto the bus and started driving out to the causeway. It wasn't long before we learned that there was a problem with the space shuttle and the launch had been scrubbed. We were all extremely disappointed. Thankfully our tour company allowed us to jump out of the bus and take a few pictures on the causeway.

Here's Endeavour!

Andrew was grateful to be out of the bus, even for five minutes. He ran around in circles while looking at the space shuttle.

It wasn't long before poor Andrew crashed on the bus while driving back to Orlando. He was pretty tuckered out from the long day.

We're hoping to see Endeavour launch before we leave Florida, otherwise we are already talking about making a return trip. Hopefully NASA can fix the problem quickly!
