Uncle John thought it would be a lot of fun to get the family together and take the kids on the Georgetown Loop Railroad that runs between Silver Plume and Georgetown. Everyone agreed it was a great idea, so off we went!
Noah and Andrew both adore trains, and they couldn't wait to get on-board.

The train slowly chugged its way down the mountain toward Georgetown, describing the route and how it was built. The tracks ran right along the side of a mountain, and it was an absolutely perfect day to ride the rails.
Once at the bottom, we stopped to pick up more passengers and then back up to Silver Plume. We took the opportunity to let the kids out to stretch their legs and throw a rock (or many rocks) into a river that was running nearby.

Once finished, the engine unhitched from the passenger cars and turned around to do the loop again.
On the way back to Denver, we stopped in Idaho Springs to eat lunch at Beau Jo's Pizza, which is famous for its Colorado style deep dish pizza. Mmmm mmmm good!
