Cheyenne came into our lives when we desperately needed her. Mommy's family had just lost their family dog and we weren't sure if we wanted another one. In walks Cheyenne, a scrawny runt of a puppy who played fetch even though the tennis ball was as big as her head. Literally.
Cheyenne was a loyal companion for 14 years. She loved playing fetch until her legs could no longer run. She loved swimming after sticks thrown into the lake in Walsenberg. She loved chasing after squirrels and rabbits in the backyard. She loved having her ears scratched. Unlike most dogs, she loved an occasional treat of melon. Most of all, however, she loved her family.
And we loved her.
Mommy isn't sure how Andrew will react when his "Cheyna" isn't there to greet him the next time he visits Gamma and Skipper in Colorado. Cheyenne was always so patient with children, even when she was tired and sore. Andrew adored her, sometimes a little too much for Cheyenne's liking. But she let him crawl all over her without much complaint.
Goodbye, sweet girl. We will miss you terribly.
