Since we were in Colorado and right by the Rockies, we decided to take a quick drive up to Estes Park and explore Rocky Mountain National Park. Our first stop was at an area where Andrew could throw rocks into an icy cold mountain stream.
He was in seventh heaven.

After Andrew was finished throwing rocks into the water, we left to drive up Trail Ridge Road. It wasn't long before we saw a cow elk grazing in a field.
The mountains are still pretty well covered in snow. The temperature drop as we climbed up Trail Ridge Road was pretty incredible.
We stopped at the highest point on the road to let Andrew out to play in the snow. This mischievous grin was right before he threw the snowball at Mommy.
Andrew didn't seem to mind being in the snow in his Crocs.
It was a glorious day for a drive. As we were leaving the park, we saw this large group of elk having a quick snack in the trees.
What was most amazing was having an encounter with this HUGE bull elk on the drive back into Estes Park. He was about ten feet from the car and didn't seem to mind us at all.
