Adirondacks

We had a quiet morning to allow Andrew some time to recover from his yucky episode in the car from the day before. Rather than continue up to Burlington, we decided to head over to a ferry crossing that would take us across Lake Champlain and into New York. Andrew loved throwing rocks into Lake Champlain while we waited for the ferry boat to arrive.

Once on the ferry boat, Andrew was thrilled to be on the water and "on a big boat!"

Andrew became fast friends with one of the workers on the ferry.

Once we were in New York, we realized that we were very close to Lake Placid, so we quickly drove through the Adirondacks to reach Lake Placid in time for lunch. The colors in the Adirondacks were breathtaking - much better than what we saw in Vermont.

Lake Placid was a charming little town with a lovely main street area full of boutique shopping and cute restaurants. We found a sandwich/creperie shop and found ourselves going back for seconds and thirds. So delicious. Andrew loved playing on the bobsled in front of the restaurant. He kept saying that he was going to be a bobsled driver one day.

After lunch, Mommy did a little shopping while Andrew and Daddy walked down to the lake to throw rocks. It was a gorgeous afternoon in Lake Placid!

On our way out of town, we drove by the Olympic Center and realized that it wouldn't be much longer before the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. We'll have to remember to let Andrew watch the bobsled competition!
