We spent the night in Brattleboro, Vermont and after breakfast, we crossed the border into New Hampshire. It didn't take us long as New Hampshire was just a quick five minute drive over the Connecticut River. The colors along the river were gorgeous.
This picture was taken by a truck driver who was walking to a service station because his truck had broken down. He refused to let us drive him to the closest station, but he was nice enough to stop for a moment to take our picture.
We drove across the bottom of Vermont, stopping briefly along the way to pick up some Vermont cheese, sausage and bread so we could have a picnic. We found the perfect place to have lunch - right by an old covered bridge.
Andrew ran up and down the bridge until he was gasping for air. Who knew this toddler loved covered bridges?
We started working our way up toward Burlington with the hope of seeing more color from the changing leaves when disaster struck.

On a back country road, Andrew got car sick and vomited all over himself and his car seat.
Poor kid! We had to change his clothes and clean up the car seat as best as we could. Thankfully there was a small college town only 20 minutes away that we figured would have a laundromat, so we quickly drove to Poultney... holding our breath to avoid the pukey smell in the car.
We spent several hours in Poultney at the laundromat washing all of the soiled items, and then at a little pub having dinner. We never made it to Burlington as we didn't want to risk having Andrew get sick again. We'll just have to plan another trip.
