About two miles away from St. Croix is an uninhabited island called Buck Island. It has been turned into a Reef National Monument in order to protect the coral reef that surrounds the island. We had read that if you go to St. Croix, you have to go to Buck Island.
So we did!
We scheduled a charter tour and it came to pick us up from the dock in front of our hotel.
That's the Renegade. Captain John and his crew were very nice and enjoyed having Andrew on the boat.
Let's go, sailor!
Our first stop was Turtle Beach, which is on the opposite side of the island from the coral reef. It gave us a chance to test our snorkeling equipment and enjoy the warm water.
Andrew was given a life jacket just his size. He was very happy about it.
After an hour at Turtle Beach, we got back on the Renegade and went over to the coral reef. Andrew didn't want to get into the water to snorkel, so Mommy and Daddy had to take turns swimming and snorkeling.
The reef was amazing. Lots of fish and beautiful coral.
