Taking advantage of a gorgeous summer day in New Jersey, we decided to jump in the car and head down to Long Beach Island to explore the area. It was a lovely drive down the shore. After lunch at a local diner, we trekked over to Barnegat Lighthouse.
Andrew took the easy way up the 200 plus stairs to the top of the lighthouse - riding on Daddy's shoulders.
Once we made it to the top, Andrew was thrilled to see the ocean and the beach.
He ran around the viewing area and kept pointing out the boats on the water, the beach, and all of the seagulls.
It wasn't long before he wanted to go to the beach, so we headed back down the long flight of stairs. This time, Andrew wanted to tackle the stairs himself.
Andrew found a cool rock at the base of the lighthouse to send to his Uncle Joel.
It didn't us long to find a nice quiet section of the beach, and Andrew dug holes and made a sandcastle.
He really enjoyed bringing water up from the ocean and dumping it into his sand holes.
Once the tide was fully out, Andrew ventured into the shallow areas to get his feet wet and play in the surf with Daddy.

Once we had had our fill of sand, we decided to quickly drive down to Atlantic City and have an ice cream cone on the boardwalk. We hadn't been to Atlantic City and wanted to see it for ourselves. Andrew loved the lights and action on the large boardwalk. He couldn't tear his eyes away from it all.
We had an ice cream cone and then found ourselves buying tickets to play on some of the rides at the nearby amusement park. Andrew was too short to ride most of the rides, but he could ride on the carousel with Mommy and Daddy.
And ride in an airplane with Mommy.
We had fun, fun day!
